Our story
A letter from Maxime, founder of Déniche
Dear visitor,
If I'm taking the time to write these lines, it's because Déniche wasn't born from a marketing plan, but from a small obsession that never left me: stumbling upon the object nobody else has.
As a kid, I spent hours in flea markets, neighborhood shops, forgotten aisles. Not to buy — to find. That thrill when you dig up the odd, unexpected piece, the one that makes people say “wait, where did you get that?”… I never got tired of it.
Growing up, I watched our homes fill with objects that all look the same. The same lamps, the same decor, the same gadgets seen a thousand times. Practical, sure. But soulless. And somewhere, that bothered me.
The trigger was a silly little object: a lamp that made a stack of bills levitate above its base, in a halo of warm light. The first time I set it on my desk, everyone who walked by stopped. “How does it hold up?” Every single time. That's when I understood what an object can do: create a moment, start a conversation, put a little magic into an ordinary day.
So I decided to build what I kept looking for and couldn't find: a store that doesn't sell everything, but that finds. A short selection, hand-tested, in small batches. No endless catalog, no overpromising — just finds that deserve a place in your home.
That's Déniche: the urge to put surprise and character back into the everyday. To make you feel that little thrill of the find, too.
Thank you for being here, at the very beginning of the story.
— Maxime, founder of Déniche
